Many charity events have taken place during this first term, such as the Christmas Bazaar, the U6th Charity Week, numerous cake sales and much more.
The various cake sales this term have helped to raise funds for form charities. Special mention goes to U5S who raised £152, U4S who raised £154, and L5Kwho raised an amazing £338 through two cake sales! The non-uniform day held on Speech Day raised an astounding £433 for the Philippines Typhoon disaster appeal.
The Christmas Bazaar helped us all to get into the festive spirit, with stands such as a chocolate tombola, cake sales and 3K’s book sale; this event raised a brilliant £448. We also collected 101 shoeboxes for operation Christmas child this term which will be given to children around the world for Christmas who otherwise would have nothing.
Karaoke was once again an amazing event and we want to thank the L6 CS Committee and Miss Buckley for organising it. The sketches and dances were amazing and managed to raise a wonderful £478 in aid of Refuge, a UK charity that helps women and children who have suffered domestic violence.
The sixth form members of Amnesty international have been brilliant and have shown great commitment this term. They have sent over 60 letters and emails to governments around the world as well as posting messages and photos in online action campaigns.
They have campaigned against human rights abuses in Burma, Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, Laos, Iran, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Brazil and the Russian Federation. We also want to thank everyone who brought in donations for the Harvest festival this year as this really makes a difference to people’s lives.
U6th Charity Week was also a huge success and we want to thank all of the teachers who took part in the events. The week involved anU6 and Teacher’s Fancy Dress Day, a sixth form cake sale, the teacher’s beauty pageant and a showing of the Lion King. This week raised a wonderful £373.60 for Syria Relief.
All of these events throughout the term have raised huge amounts of money for their chosen charities and we want to thank everyone for all of the effort and time that they put into all of them. We look forward to the spring term and we hope that we can continue to raise funds for Charity in true KEHS style.
